Dawson härtet seinen verwendeten pulvermetallurgischen CPM-3V Werkzeugstahl durch eine besondere Wärmebehandlung differenziell, so dass die Scheide eine sehr hohe Härte von 60-61 HRC erreicht, während die Härte des Klingenrückens nur bei 40-45 HRC liegt. Dieser Prozeß verleiht dem Stahl eine perfekte Kombination aus außergewöhnlicher Stabilität und Schnitthaltigkeit.
